During the majority of the 1950s, Venezuela was under the dictatorship of Marcos Pérez Jiménez. Towards the end of his oppressive regime, tensions were rising and the people were ready to reclaim their rights.
Interestingly enough, the spark that led to the revolution was first ignited in Caracas during a Latin American music festival.
