Which is the correct diminutive form of 'mano'?

According to the Real Academia Española (RAE), both versions are correct. 'Manito' is the preferred form in most of the American continent while 'manita' is the preferred version in Spain and parts of Mexico and Central America.

In Mexico we use "manitas" to speak about that part of the body.

Buuuuuuuut, we also use "manito" or "manita" as a short form of "hermanito". This is very common between friends.

The term "mana" or "manita" is used when you are about to tell a big chisme between girl friends or LGBT community. Manaaaaaa, ¿qué crees que me pasó el otro día?

Manitos y manitas están correctas. El uso depende del país. En Ecuador manitos y en México manitas.
