In-Person Guided Spanish Tour to the Van Cortland Museum + Photo Exhibit + Mexican Food

Come enjoy a day of history, photography, delicious food and great conversations en español with an exclusive guided Spanish tour of Van Cortlandt House Museum led by our Academic Directos, Jorge Gallegos.
During the tour, we’ll also participate in an artist talk with Edwin Pagán to discuss his exhibit Los Inocentes (The Innocents), that focuses on the resiliency of children who live in urban communities in less-than-ideal circumstances, yet prevail and thrive beyond their environments in the South Bronx, Spanish Harlem (El Barrio), and the Lower East Side (Loisaida).
After the guided tour and talk, the group will head to a local Mexican restaurant for food, drinks, and even more conversation!
The House-Museum is the centerpiece of a 1,000-acre urban park that once was the Van Cortlandt family’s plantation and is a National Historic Landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Both its interior and exterior are New York City Landmarks.
The exhibit was installed in Van Cortlandt Park at the basketball court on Broadway until August 1, 2024, but was extended to August 10th for our group to see it.
The exhibit’s producer is Photoville, the project sponsor is The Bronx County Historical Society, and it is regionally supported by Van Cortlandt House Museum and the Van Cortlandt Park Alliance.

Who: Anybody interested in art, history, meeting great people and practicing their Spanish speaking abilities
Where: Van Cortlandt House Museum – Take the #1 train to the last stop Van Cortlandt Park-242. Meet the group down outside the train station, on the street by the park.
Why: To hang-out, practice Spanish and have a good time learning about art and culture
Spanish level: All levels are welcome, but some knowledge of Spanish is highly recommended
