Join us for an engaging movie discussion en español!
This month, we’ll watch key scenes from the Mexican film Ya no estoy aquí (I’m no longer here) to kick off the conversation and analyze different aspects of the movie.
This film -written and directed by Fernando Frías de la Parra- deals with a number of cultural and current issues like la cumbia mexicana, discrimination, violence, identity and immigration, perfect for an in-depth group discussion.
NOTE: We recommend you watch the movie prior to come to the event (available on Netflix). We won’t watch the entire film (too long). If you prefer, you can watch the film after the group discussion.
Where: The Commons, 157 East 86th Street, 5th Floor
Meeting point: Meet us in front of the building at 5:45 pm. Please be on time because it’s a bit complicated to have access to the building.
Spanish level: All levels are welcome, but some knowledge of Spanish is highly recommended
