SUMMARY:Walk & Talk en español: Guided City Tour
DESCRIPTION:¡Vamos a explorar la ciudad con amigos! \nWhether you’re born and raised in NY or you’ve only been living here for a short while\, you do not want to miss this unique tour through some the city’s historical landmarks. \nDuring our tour we’ll explore a 1.2-mile route that takes us from NY’s early Indigenous roots to the Revolutionary War and its bustling maritime past\, making three key stops: \nStop 1: National Museum of the American Indian Our tour begins at Bowling Green\, the oldest public park in New York. We will step inside the grand Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House to visit the National Museum of the American Indian. This site is highly symbolic\, sitting right next to where the Dutch first interacted with the native Lenape people. Inside\, you will see a stunning collection of native art and historical artifacts. \nStop 2: Fraunces Tavern Next\, we will walk a few blocks east to Pearl Street to visit Fraunces Tavern. Built in 1719\, this famous building served as a secret headquarters for colonists fighting for independence during the American Revolution. You will stand in the exact room where General George Washington gave his emotional farewell speech to his officers at the end of the war in 1783. \nStop 3: Captain Joseph Rose House We will finish our walk on the cobblestone streets of the South Street Seaport district at the Captain Joseph Rose House. Built in 1773\, this landmark is the third-oldest standing building in Manhattan. Your guide will share how it transformed from the luxury home of a wealthy mahogany-trading sea captain into a notorious waterfront saloon in the 19th century. \nMeeting point: Meet the group in front of the National Museum of the American Indian. \n\n\n \nHow much: $15 advanced online ($20 cash on the day of the event)
