Francia Márquez is the newly-elected Vice-President of Colombia. Lawyer and human-rights and environmental activist, Francia is the first Afro-Colombian to become vice-president and the second woman to hold this position.
Born in a humble family of farmers and miners, Francia’s life has been marked by struggles and obstacles which fueled her activism and involvement in politics.
