Rumiñahui was an indigenous warrior and military leader who fought tirelessly against the Spanish conquistadores.
Stepbrother to Inca Emperor Atahualpa, he was instrumental to the emperor’s victory during the Inca Civil War. Although his real name was Pillahuaso II, he earned the name Rumiñahui, meaning ‘stone eye’ in Quechua, for his physical and mental strength.
After Atahualpa was murdered by the Spanish conquistadores, Rumiñahui continued leading the resistance and he almost changed the course of history.
