We’re more than just another language school. We’re the family that believes in you and tells you “Don’t give up”.
We’ve been transforming lives since 2009 in the heart of Manhattan. To us, you’re not just another number. You’re a part of us.
Our origins
The year was 2009. New York was brimming with Spanish language schools: large, corporate, efficient. But something was missing. At these schools, no one knew your name. No one celebrated your first conversation in Spanish without translating everything in your head. No one would ask you out for dinner after class to practice Spanish among tapas and wine.
I saw it every day: brilliant students who would get blocked when trying to speak; who hated making mistakes; who felt that they would “never speak Spanish”. These students didn’t need more grammar lessons. They needed a space where making mistakes was a part of their journey. A space where learning Spanish felt like being part of a family.
“I wanted to create the kind of place where I would have wanted to be a student: where mistakes are celebrated, where your accent is your super power, and where your transformation is more important than being perfect.”
Jorge Gallegos
2009: Our foundation
I founded Easy Español with a clear mission in mind: to create a community where learning Spanish wouldn’t be an academic transaction, but rather a personal transformation. We’re located in the heart of Manhattan, but our school has the soul of a Hispanic American home.”
See the difference from day one
At Easy Español, you’re not student #247. We know you by your first-name. We know your story, your fears, your goals. We know that K wanted to reconnect with her family in Mexico. We know that Sophia wanted to speak to her Colombian mother-in-law. We know that David, at 72-years old, dreamt of interpreting for the Court System.
More than Spanish Lessons
We share meals, visit art exhibits, organize guided tours. Because you don’t learn Spanish only in the confines of a classroom. You Live the Language while the conversation flows together with a glass of wine and empanadas. You Live the Language in the shared laughter that doesn't need any translation.
The man behind the mission
I’m not from Spain.
I’m from Hispanic America.
And that distinction matters.
When I founded Easy Español in 2009, I didn’t want to copy the model of the big, hierarchical institutions. I wanted something different. Something that would reflect the real diversity of the Spanish-speaking world: from Madrid to Buenos Aires, from Barcelona to Quito, from Mexico to Bogota. A huge family of over 500 million speakers.
“I’ve taught students of all levels, professions and backgrounds imaginable. And every single student had the very same fear: ‘what if I’m no good at this?’ My job is not to convince you that you’re good at Spanish. My job is to show you that Spanish is your goal, not your obstacle.”
Jorge Gallegos, founder.
This is what I’ve built here. Not an institution. A family.
Before Easy Español, I taught at the New York Cervantes Institute, at Hunter College High School and St. John´s University. But I’d always felt that something was missing: the human factor. A real human connection. That moment when a student doesn’t just learn conjugations, she reconnects with her family, gets a promotion, or becomes part of a new community.
The coaches that celebrate your progress
I could mention that we “have over 200 years of combined experience”. But that sounds corporate, cold, like a faceless entity. And we are exactly the opposite.
We are a group of passionate coaches that choose to do this job every day. We’re real people with real stories that know how to relate to students who feel concerned about their previous Spanish experiences. We don’t just correct mistakes, we also celebrate progress. We share meals, guided visits and laughter with our students because that’s how you live a language: we grow together.

What drives us every day
At Easy Español, we don’t have a set of “corporate values” framed on our wall. We have principles that guide us every day, in every session, in every conversation, and in every meal shared with our students.
You don’t learn Spanish just by conjugating verbs in a classroom or by using an app on your phone. You learn it by sharing some tacos and practicing ordering food in Spanish. You learn it by visiting an art exhibit of Frida Kahlo and commenting on her work. You learn Spanish by sharing meals with your classmates and realizing that you can have a full Spanish conversation. That’s why we organize cultural events, guided tours, and meetups. At Easy Español, you don’t just study Spanish, you Live the Language.
These are not just values that we randomly posted on our website. These values are the reason we do what we do. The reason why students who completed their studies 5, 10 or 15 years ago keep attending our events. The reason why our students call us their “family” and not their “academy”.
If this sounds just like what you’re looking for, then Easy Español is the right place for you.
The day that we don’t recognize your name, when we stop celebrating your first Spanish conversation without having to translate, when we stop asking you over for dinner after class… that’s the day when we’ll stop being Easy Español”
The Easy Español team.

Ready to meet your future family?
Easy Español is not for everybody. If you’re looking for an anonymus, inexperience teacher or an app to practice at home by yourself, there are cheaper options. If you’re looking for a big language school where no one knows your name, there are plenty of options.
