In-Spanish Guided Tour at the New York Public Library: Puerto Ricans in the World of Comics

¡Vamos a la biblioteca!
Let’s explore the rich culture and history of Puerto Rico through the unique perspective of comic books.
This exhibition located at the New York Public Library “draws primarily from the Library’s Manuel Martínez Nazario Collection of Puerto Ricans in the World of Comics. It explores aspects of Puerto Rican life and culture along the axes of space (representations of “the Island” itself; Puerto Rican relationships with New York City) and time (Puerto Rico’s complex past; Puerto Rican visions of futuristic and fantasy worlds).”
During our tour, we’ll discuss Puerto Rico’s cultural and political impact both on the island and on NYC, all en español, of course. After the tour, we’ll grab some delicious Mexican tacos and keep the conversation going! T
he tour is completely in Spanish with English to clarify some specific topics.
Spanish level: All levels are welcome, but some knowledge of Spanish is highly recommended.
Meeting point: Meet us outside the library, next to the lions.
How much: $10; food not included.
