Clear up your doubts

Here’s everything you need to know to begin your language transformation. If you can’t find the answer to your question here, contact us; we would love to talk to you.

Frequently asked questions about our METHODS and LEVELS

Yes, absolutely. Our Audio-Cognitive Method is designed precisely for that: improving your listening skills from day one. You won’t memorize vocabulary lists. You will listen, infer meaning through context and practice speaking Spanish with real conversations in Spanish.

This is exactly how you learned your native language as a child: listening, processing, answering. This method works.

There are two ways to find out: You can take our Free Online Placement Test (20-30 questions, 10 minutes) or you can simply read the descriptions of each level and select that one that best describes you. You can find both options on our Assessment page.

If you’re looking for a more personalized assessment, book a Trial Lesson. We’ll assess your language skills, get to know your language needs and goals, and use that information to design the best program for you.

Not at all. Many of our students begin their programs as Total Beginners. In fact, it’s bes to start fresh, without any bad habits picked up from previous methods. Our Audio-Cognitive Method works from day 1, whether you know a little Spanish, a lot or nothing at all.

It depends on your starting level, your motivation and how much time you can devote to practice. However, this is a realistic expectation:

Taking the recommended 2 classes per week, at the end of a 3-month period you will be able to talk for 30 minutes straight about the topics that matter to you. After 6 months, you will be able to handle complex conversations without any major issues. In a year, you’ll be able to have fluent conversations.

Our program is divided into various courses per level following the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1). At the end of each course, you can take an exam to certify what you’ve learned and move on to the next level.

But here’s the difference from other programs: We don’t teach you how to pass exams; we train you to speak Spanish. The exams are just a formal confirmation of what you already know.

Yes, all our coaches are native Spanish speakers with years of experience teaching Spanish as a second language. Most importantly, they are warm and patient people who are passionate about helping you empower your Spanish.

We represent the diversity of the Hispanic world, we have coaches from Spain, Mexico, Ecuador, Argentina, and other countries. You will learn real and authentic Spanish, not textbook phrases.

Frequently asked questions about LESSONS

Yes, 100%. All our online classes are live in real time. You’ll be face-to-face with a seasoned coach the entire time. No pre-recorded videos, no bots, no apps with repetitive activities.

Just you and your coach, chatting, practicing, getting feedback as you go. That’s how you really learn.

Yes, we work around your schedule. Once you purchase your class package, we’ll assign you a coach based on your level, learning style and availability. After that, you will coordinate your classes directly with your coach.

If your schedule changes, no problem; we can adjust to these changes. As long as you give your coach 24-hour notice, you can reschedule your lesson free of charge.

Of course. We want you to feel comfortable. If for whatever reason, you don’t click with your coach, just tell us and we’ll assign you a new one. No awkward questions, no big deal.

That being said, this rarely happens. We select our coaches not only for their experience, but rather for their warmth and capacity for connecting with people of different cultures and personalities.

Very simple:

  • A computer, laptop, iPad or cellphone (for the chat sessions only) with a camera and microphone
  • Strong Internet connection
  • Our Virtual Classroom (we’ll give you free access when you purchase your class package)

You don’t need to install anything complicated. On the first day of class, your coach will show you around your class resources and tools and help you with any question or technical issue that might come up.

Yes, you can reschedule classes without a problem or extra cost, as long as you give your coach 24-hour notice.

If you cancel the class with less than 24-hour notice, the class will be charged and deducted from your package as taken. We know emergencies happen, but we also need a minimum period of time to accommodate any changes.

There are three ways for you to track your progress:

  • Your coach will provide you feedback throughout your classes
  • On your Student Dashboard you will be able to see your number of lessons completed and the materials you have used
  • You can take a formal exam after completing each course to certify your level.

But the best way to know you progress is when you start noticing that you’re using a larger variety of Spanish words, that you can understand more and more when listening to Spanish-speakers, and that you’re starting to think in Spanish instead of translating everything in your head first. That’s the real progress.

Highly interactive. This is not a lecture where the teacher speaks, and you listen.

In our sessions we use audio, videos, images, and real-life situations to practice. And in-between classes you have access to our Virtual Campus, full of interactive activities to reinforce everything you’re learning in class.

Plus, with your free Membership, you have access to our weekly group conversation sessions where you practice your Spanish together with students of your same level.

Our In-Person class packages have a higher cost than our online packages due to the extra expenses of physical space and materials. Learn more about the prices of this program on our Private Classes page.

Frequently asked questions about our TALKs

You only need some basic knowledge. Our TALK sessions are 100% in Spanish from the first minute, so you should be able to have a basic conversation. If you’re a Total Beginner (A1), we recommend getting started with our regular Private Class Program, so you can properly build up your Spanish foundations and your coach can use a little bit of English to explain basic topics.

Absolutely. Although the coach will normally kick off the conversation by asking you some general questions, you can always say “I want to practice business vocabulary today”, or “please help me get ready for this presentation” or “I want to tell you about my weekend”. We adapt to your Spanish needs.

Your coach will break it down for you in simple oral and written Spanish, using practical examples and gestures. The goal is not for you to understand every little word from the start; the goal is for YOU to speak as much as possible. Understanding comes with time and repeated exposure to the language.

That depends on your schedule preference. Many of our TALK students book their sessions every week at the same time with the same coach. This creates constancy that allows the coach to track your progress. But if you prefer variety and practicing with different accents and styles, you can also talk with a different coach every time. It’s your call.

No. These are live conversations in real time, and we don’t record them. This takes the pressure of speaking “perfectly” and it allows you to make mistakes more freely, a necessary step to grow and learn.

If you bought a package and after your first TALK session, you decide that the program isn’t the right fit for you, yes, we will refund you for the unused sessions. No questions. No issues. We want you to be 100% happy with your investment.

Frequently asked questions about our level ASSESSMENT

Always choose the LOWER level. It’s best to start with a review of topics you already know rather than feeling completely lost on the first day. During the Consultation Session we will help you determine the right level for you.

No. Some people prefer the exhaustive test, some prefer the self-assessment, and other people prefer to speak directly with us. All options are valid. Besides, your language coach will do a full assessment during your first lesson.

Of course. There’s always a period of adjustment at the beginning. If you feel like the level isn’t right for you, we can move you to another one, no problem.

All the necessary materials are included and automatically adapted to your level.

With our exclusive methodology, you start using simple phrases from the first week. You can have a basic conversation in 3-4 weeks. And you will be able to hold a fluent conversation in 3-6 months provided you have classes 2 hours per week.

Frequently asked questions about our MEMBERSHIP

Yes, absolutely. No strings attached; no penalties. If you decide that out Membership is no longer working for you, all you have to do is cancel. We will miss you, though.

As many as you want. We offer multiple sessions per week at different times and for different Spanish levels. If your schedule allows, you can attend every single one. Most of our members participate of 1-2 sessions per week.

Our Conversations Sessions are live and we do not record them because their magic is in the real interactions between coaches and participants. If you can’t make it to a session, that’s OK; there’s always another date for you to choose from. And the learning resources on our Digital Community are available 24/7.

As a paying Member, most events are completely free to you. Some special events might have a small fee, for example, dinners at restaurants or tours that include transportation or entrance fees, but we will always let you know in advance in those cases.

Of course. Actually, many of our private students started off as members. And if you’re a PREMIUM member, you get special discounts on certain events. Other members can upgrade to our private program as well, but their Membership tier does not include special discounts.

All levels are welcome, from Total Beginners (A1) to Advanced (C1+). Our Conversation Sessions are sorted by level, so you’ll always be with people who know exactly how you feel.

Our SUBSCRIBER plan will always be completely free; no strings attached. Our paid plans (1-M STARTER, 3-M MEMBER, PREMIUM) renew automatically (once a month or every 3 months, accordingly), but you can cancel your subscription whenever you want. No penalties; no fixed-term contracts.

Our SUBSCRIBER plan gives your free basic access to try out the Membership. Our 1-M STARTER and 3-M MEMBER subscription options give you full access to our resources and Digital Community. In addition, our PREMIUM plan also includes our weekly Conversation Sessions and special discounts on our events. Choose your Membership plan based on your budged and your language needs.

Frequently asked questions by SCHOOLD and INSTITUTIONS

That depends solely on your language goals and availability. For businesses: we offer everything from intensive 8-week programs (3 sessions per week) to year-round training. For schools: after-school programs are typically annual or per semester following the school calendar. Teacher training can be intensive during the summer break or at a regular pace throughout the school year. Typically, programs run through the school trimester or semester with participants taking 1-2 lessons per week (60-90 minutes per session).

Yes. Our support and after-school programs are for kids ages 6 and up. We tailor the methodology according to the student’s age: playful approach for younger kids (songs, games, stories), more structured programs for teenagers, and professional level training for adults. Every age group has coaches specialized in their corresponding learning stage.

Of course, that’s a very common approach. Many businesses and schools get started by training a small work team, group of students or teachers. We assess the results of the pilot program and then we scale that to accommodate the needs of your entire business or school. We can design 8-12-week pilot programs perfect for testing our method.

Standard process: (1) Initial meeting to understand your school vision, level requirements, number of weekly hours, and students’ ages. (2) We design the full curriculum in 4-8 weeks: objectives per levels, content table, suggested materials, grading system. (3) Revision and adjustments with school management. (4) Finalized curriculum ready to be implemented. If your school also requires that your educators be trained to use the new curriculum, we can add that to the program.

We assess the starting level of each participant, so we can either divide students into groups of the same Spanish level or recommend private instruction for specific participants. If the group is small (3-4 people) and their levels are close enough, we will adapt the class content to fit everyone’s needs. For after-school programs, kids are always sorted by age AND Spanish level.

Yes, all participants receive a certificate of attendance and completion at the end of their program that details the amount of hours taken and their current Spanish level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1).

For after-school programs, we recommend a minimum of 6-8 students per group. If you have a smaller student pool, we can offer you private or semi-private lessons (2-4 students) at an adjusted rate. We can also group together students from different academic courses if they have a similar Spanish level. For Online programs we recommend a maximum of 8 students per group.

Our school is located in Manhattan (10 East 39th Street). Here we provide In-Person training at our school, or we commute to schools and/or offices located in NYC and the metropolitan area. For schools and business based in other cities or states, we provide Live Online training with the exact level of quality.

Frequently asked questions about our SMALL GROUP COURSES

Life happens; we get it. The course’s online resources will help you make up what you missed. Try to commit to at least attending 80% of the classes to really benefit from the group experience.

That’s precisely why we do a careful initial assessment; to avoid these kinds of issues. However, if it happens, we’ll talk to you to figure out a new plan. Sometimes the solution is a couple of private lessons for reinforcement or maybe switching to a different group. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable with your learning experience.

Yes, all our coaches are trained to use Easy Español’s exclusive Audio-Cognitive method. Your learning experience will be consistent, no matter who’s leading the group course.

No, but you can book a free Consultation Session to help you determine which option is best for you (group courses, private program, Membership, etc.).

No, unfortunately the Membership benefits are only available for the students of our Private Program. Become a Member to have full access to our monthly cultural events, weekly group conversation sessions, and our Digital Community. Spanish practice doesn’t end with the class.

Two key factors: size and philosophy. Our groups have a maximum of 6 people while other schools squeeze 12-15 people in the same course. Additionally, we’re not a soulless corporate school. We’re a community. That’s a key difference you’ll experience from day one.

Frequently asked questions about SPANISH FOR KIDS

Our programs are designed for kids from 6 years old and up. At this age, the brain has an amazing capacity to absorb languages naturally. The window between 7 and 14 years of age provides a fantastic opportunity to foster bilingualism. The sooner kids within this age range start learning, the better.

Our classes are everything but boring. Songs, games, stories, visual activities. Kids don’t even realize that they’re ‘studying’; they’re just having fun with the Spanish language.

Our coaches have a lot of experience working with shy kids and making them feel comfortable to gradually open up. These classes are one-one-one; just your child and the coach. There’s no added pressure of other kids watching, teasing or laughing. Your child will learn at their own pace in a safe and warm environment.

That depends on your child’s age and autonomy. For kids ages 7-9, we recommend you be nearby, in case they need any technical assistance or get distracted, but you don’t need to be sitting with them in front of the screen. Most kids ages 10 and up can have the lessons by themselves without any problems. We will keep you informed of their class progress every step of the way.

Every child is different. But on average, in 3-4 months your child will be able to have basic conversations, and in 6-8 months, they will be able to handle more complex conversations. Regular practice is key: 2-3 classes per week are ideal.

Yes, our language coaches are native Spanish speakers specialized in childhood education. Being a native speaker is not enough. For us it’s important that our coaches have the required pedagogical training to work with kids.

A computer or iPad with camera, microphone and a stable Internet connection. Classes take place on our Virtual Classroom or Zoom. It’s very simple, even for kids.

Absolutely. We strongly recommend booking a Trial Lesson or a Cognitive Assessment session first so you and your child can get to know the coach and see if our method feels right for both of you. No pressure, no strings attached.
