Talavera de la Reina is a small town in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, famous for its exquisite and colorful pottery.
A blend of Spanish and Arab artistic influences and techniques, Talavera de la Reina’s pottery, ceramics and tiles quickly became a staple of Spain’s art and architecture.
When Spanish potters and artisans settled in New Spain (present Mexico), they incorporated native pre-Hispanic techniques to their work, creating a new style of pottery in Puebla named ‘Talavera’ in honor of their place of origin.
