Description
This is the perfect course for Spanish students interested in art, history, and Spanish culture. We will explore the history of Spanish art, from the 15th century until the 20th century, through seven exquisitely represented women.
The figure of the woman in Spain’s art and culture personifies several female archetypes. We will analyze paintings of women who stood in their roles of queens, princesses, virgins, muses, wives, and prostitutes. We will learn about their lives, their concerns, their roles in history, how they were portrayed and judged, and their influence over the Spanish society of their time.
