The Chimborazo is the highest mountain in the world if measured from the center of the Earth. This inactive volcano is located in Ecuador, on the western range of the Andes.
For decades, the Chimborazo has been mined by los hieleros, local men who harvested and sold the mountain’s glacial ice.
Nowadays, the job of hielero has mostly been replaced by modern refrigeration technology, but one man has been carrying on his family legacy with pride for over 60 years.
